Development Team

The Winter Club Development Team is launching as a pilot program in 2026-27.

Learn Hockey. Less Commitment. Improve Skills. Stay local. Have Fun.

  • Our purpose is to provide an opportunity to play hockey that is an opportunity for skill development and at a lower commitment level than travel hockey for Squirt and older competitive teams.

  • Our goal is to teach hockey skills and improve skating to the point that the player would progress to the point they would be able to join a Squirt (SQ), Peewee (PW), or Bantam (BA) level team the next season, if desired.

  • Our focus is on proper hockey skating skills and to develop the basics of stick-handling, puck control, shooting, and basic positioning. AND TO HAVE FUN EACH TIME THEY GO THE RINK!

  • Ideally players should have basic entry level skating abilities, but if your child is motivated, no level of experience is required.

Who May Be Interested

  • Kids not yet playing hockey who are not able to commit to a SQ/PW season, or who are tied up with other winter sports and activities.

  • Kids who are playing hockey but would prefer a lesser commitment.

  • Kids who are playing hockey but are placed in the development program as the best fit for developing their skill level.

  • And many more!

REGISTERED PLAYERS

  • 12U/10U (PW/SQ) birth years may elect to register directly for the Development Team.
  • Participants may also be placed in the development program based on the SQ/PW/BA team selection process.
  • We encourage you to register your player for the season at SQ, PW, or BA to participate in the team’s selection process. Based on this process, coaches will assign you to a team or assign you to a Development Team season. Any registration cost difference would be refunded to you.
