Coaching Requirements
Coaches at all levels must complete certification requirements. Please follow the WAHA step-by-step instructions to complete your certification. In addition, every year, you must register as a 2025-26 MWC Volunteer once you have your annual USA Hockey membership.
Throughout the process, you can use the USA Hockey site to search for your certification status.
You cannot be on the ice until the following steps are completed:
- Obtain an annual USA Hockey membership
- Register as a 2025-26 MWC Volunteer
- Complete the Background Check (conducted by USA Hockey and required every two years)
- Complete the SafeSport Module
- Complete the Age-Specific Modules (if coaching at a new age level)
Prior to December 15...
- You must complete your next Coach Education Program (CEP) Certification Clinic virtually or in person. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL DECEMBER TO COMPLETE THESE. December 31 is a HARD DEADLINE and the clinics only run through December 15. The coaching clinics may fill up.
- Atoms/Mites: you do not need to go beyond the 6U8U clinic if you are only coaching Atoms/Mites.
