Coaching Requirements
Coaches at all levels must complete certification requirements. Please follow the WAHA step-by-step instructions to complete your certification. In addition, every year, you must register as a 2025-26 MWC Volunteer once you have your annual USA Hockey membership.
Throughout the process, you can use the USA Hockey site to search for your certification status.
You cannot be on the ice until...
You have completed the:
- Background Check (conducted by USA Hockey and required every two years)
- SafeSport Module
Prior to December 31st...
You must complete:
- Age-Specific Modules if you are coaching at a new age level
- Your next Coach Education Program (CEP) Certification Clinic virtually or in person. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL DECEMBER TO COMPLETE THESE. December 31st is a HARD DEADLINE and the coaching clinics may fill up.
- Atoms/Mites: you do not need to go beyond Level 1 if you are only coaching Atoms/Mites
